“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” --- Susan Sontag INTRODUCTION I am a journalist based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I have been trained as a reporter and as a photographer as well. Out of two, I can say photography is my passion. Every photographer sees through the lens. But I try to see beyond what a photographer sees. I capture a moment that never comes back. I capture a moment that often cannot be explained in writing. I see the people's plight – their moment of happiness even in hardship. With an experience of more than 20 years as a print media journalist, I now work as the chief news editor of New Age (www.newagebd.com), a leading English language broadsheet published from Dhaka. Besides, I also work for CNN and Inter-Press Service. My reports and photographs often appear on CNN and occasionally on other international media. I previously worked for Jiji Press of Japan and Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), a New Delhi based global news agency as Bangladesh Correspondent. --------- Farid Ahmed

Photographs are a way of imprisoning reality… One can’t possess reality, one can possess images – one can’t possess the present but one can possess the past.          – Susan Sontag
